Fuller Vocal Ensemble Spring Concert

TheFuller Vocal Ensemble 2012 Spring Concert Fuller Vocal Ensemble will present its Annual Spring Concert--"From the Heart, the Soul, the Mind"--on Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Travis Auditorium. Featuring selections by Courtney, Duruflé, Fauré, Forrest, Hayes, Mendelssohn, and Willmington, the concert will highlight solo voices within the ensemble. The suggested donation for the concert is $10 general admission or $5 for students.

The theme for the concert is taken from the second verse of a hymn penned by Jeffrey Bryan Leech, "Giver of the Gift of Singing." It is a reference to Luke 10:27, when Jesus said, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself." The ensemble will perform a new musical setting of the hymn by Edwin M. Willmington.

During the concert, the ensemble will also offer a musical tribute to Brehm Center Academic Director Clayton J. Schmit, who will be leaving Fuller Seminary at the end of the academic year to begin a new position at Lenoir-Rhyne University. The university has selected Dr. Schmit to be the founding provost of its School of Theology, which now includes the South Carolina-based Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.

Please join us for a reception following the concert as we thank Dr. Schmit for his outstanding contribution to the Brehm Center over the past 12 years.
