During
his last visit to Duke Divinity School October 15-16, Fuller Theological
Seminary president, Dr. Richard Mouw, reflected in a video interview on a study
confirming Protestant vales are no longer embedded in the culture.
Illustrating
a world view, Mouw referenced the Father looking down at his children, saying, “We
should be seeing things as God sees them--at least in our capacity as human
beings.”
He
said that what is often at the center of God’s vision is at the margin of
society.
“There’s
a kind of seeing that goes beyond surfaces, which can be demonstrated by
looking at others as God’s work of art,” said Mouw.
Mouw
was a featured lecturer at Duke’s 2012 Convocation & Pastor’s School, which
centered on the role of congregations in forming Christians for today and the
future, as well as what formation and reformation is needed for pastors and
professors in ministry.
