A special lecture celebrating the School of Psychology’s Thrive Center for Human Development and honoring Fuller Friends Robert and Dorothy King will be delivered on Thursday, October 25 at 3 p.m. in Travis Auditorium.

John Shepherd, founder and president of MPower Pictures, will give the lecture titled “The Media, Film, and Human Thriving.” There will be a question and answer session after the lecture.

Shepherd has extensive experience in independent filmmaking, producing and acting. He started MPower Pictures to produce movies that empower life and family.

The lecture follows the installation service for Thrive Center Director Dr. Justin L. Barrett, who will be officially installed as the Thrive Chair of Developmental Science.

The installation service will take place in Travis Auditorium at 10 a.m. Barrett’s installation address is titled “Dare to Thrive.”

Barrett joined Fuller’s School of Psychology in 2011. He came to Fuller from the University of Oxford, U.K., where he taught and served as Senior Researcher for Oxford’s Center for Anthropology and Mind.

Under the leadership of Dr. Barrett, the Thrive Center works to promote human thriving by researching the development of child and adolescent spirituality, character and competence, and providing resources for individuals and organizations that assist young people to become flourishing adults.
