Glen Stassen's, "Just Peacemaking"
According to the Associated Baptist Press, Glen Stassen, the
Lewis B. Smedes Professor of Christian Ethics at Fuller, has been named the
2013 recipient of the Baptist World Alliance Denton and Janice Lotz Human
Rights Award. The award will be
presented in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, during the annual BWA conference July
1-6.
The article mentions Stassen as a leading voice in
peacemaking, referencing one of his books, Just
Peacemaking, as “outlining an alternative to pacifism and just-war theory
in the form of positive and practical steps that human beings can take to
abolish war.”
APB also alludes to Stassen’s father, the late Harold
Stassen, who was the president of the American Baptist Convention in the 1960s,
as well as the governor of Minnesota from 1939-1943, and a nine-time candidate
for U.S. president.
