Committee Chair Dave Bere
The Presidential Search Committee, in charge of finding
Fuller’s next president, has asked the Fuller community for prayers as it
enters into the selection phase of the process.
In October of last year, the committee released
an opportunity profile outlining what Fuller is seeking in a
new leader and said it would review nominations and applications through
December 31, 2012.
Committee Chairman Dave Berè updated the Fuller community
on the progress of the search and said the committee hopes to bring a final
candidate to the Board of Trustees in May. He has asked specifically for
prayers in this important time of discernment.
Dear Fuller Community,
I am pleased to inform you that we have completed the second
phase of the presidential search. Over 250 people were nominated, and the
committee has been meeting on a regular basis to thoughtfully review these
individuals. We have asked a select number of these nominees to fill out an
extensive application, which the search committee will review at its meeting on
January 26. We expect to ask 3-5 candidates to go through a comprehensive
interview and evaluation process February-April. We remain optimistic that we
will be able to bring a final candidate to the Board of Trustees in May.
On behalf of the committee, I want to thank everyone who has
submitted nominations. We have been moved by the strong interest in Fuller's
presidential search from the seminary community and the broader Christan world,
reflected in the numerous nominations and offers of advice we have received.
We have been particularly struck by the feeling of importance of Fuller
and the role it plays in the global Christian movement and are encouraged by
the caliber of candidates we will review this month.
As we enter into the selection phase of the process, we earnestly seek your
prayers. Specifically, we ask for prayer for the candidates and the committee
as we begin this important time of discernment. The committee is very grateful
to so many who have already committed this process to prayer.
Thank you,
Dave Berè
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
