Hours: 18 to 20 per week
Pay Rate: $11.00 per hour
Reports To: Assistant Director of Student Financial Services
Summary:
An interesting position that combines accurate and timely data entry of financial aid materials and personal interaction with students and other campus departments. This integral position requires a self-starter who enjoys working independently and in a team setting.
Essential Functions:
- Initial entry of financial aid applications and FAFSAs, including setting up tracking requirements and assigning students to budget groups and packaging groups
- Retrieves student FAFSA information from the federal government and loads it into the computer system
- Responsible for identifying missing materials and sending tracking letters. This includes setting tracking letter deadlines and notifying staff of the dates
- Merges and prints financial aid award notifications. Sends revised award letters. Enters awards accepted by students
- Sends exit interview packages to graduating students
- Documents current procedures related to this position. This includes writing documentation outlining letter merge processes, data entry processes, and end of year transition processes
- Works to create more efficient letter merges in coordination with management
- Filing as needed
- Provides front desk coverage as needed
- Answers complex financial aid questions in person, by phone and by email
- Special projects as assigned
Knowledge & Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Applicant must be a current student and have sufficient federal work-study eligibility to work 18 to 20 hours per week
- Previous experience working in an office environment
- Strong data entry experience
- Basic accounting knowledge helpful
- Typing 35 wpm
- Intermediate computer skills
- Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Word mail merge
- Must have excellent customer service skills, including highly developed interpersonal skills
- Be detail oriented, organized and able to multitask
- Self-motivated and able to meet deadlines
- Work well in a team setting and independently
- Willingness to learn complex policies and procedures
- Ability to adapt to change
- Sense of humor
- Financial aid experience helpful, but is not necessary
- Ability to bend, stoop, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
- Conversational Korean or Spanish language skills helpful

- The person in this position MUST coordinate their work schedule with other data entry staff to ensure the daily processing of financial aid
