Class Formats at Fuller

Fuller Seminary offers classes in a ten-week quarter system. Students may take classes in different formats. The description of each class format is provided below.

Traditional Class: The class will be taught by the professor in a campus classroom location and meet once or twice per week as a ten-week class.

“Fuller Live” Class: The class will be taught by the professor in a campus classroom location, along with one or more sections at other campuses, by live, interactive audio/video link.

Intensive Class: The class will be taught by the professor in a classroom location in a condensed time period of one week, two weeks, five weeks, or over several weekends. Language intensives are ten-week classes with increased hours and units (Greek: 12 units; Hebrew: 8 units).*

Immersion Class: The class will be taught by the professor in a designated location that is not on a main campus, and the class may involve international travel. Immersion classes are designed to challenge students to draw from the cultural surroundings of the course location as well as course lectures for a uniquely comprehensive educational experience. Immersion classes typically follow an intensive format.

Online Class: The class will be taught by the professor in Moodle as a ten-week class. Regular student participation and interaction is required.

Individualized Distance Learning (IDL) Class: Audio lectures will be provided, along with supplementary materials. Students will study individually at their own pace within the ten-week quarter.

Hybrid Class: The class will be taught by the professor in Moodle starting the first week of the quarter with weekly interactive assignments. The class will then meet as an intensive on a campus later in the quarter and will continue in Moodle for the duration of the term.*

Hybrid Plus (“Hybrid+”) Classes: Two hybrid classes are scheduled together so that the intensive part (required for hybrids) is held on the same campus in the same week. These classes will be scheduled on a regular rotation with the same pairing of classes. There are a total of six Hybrid+ classes.

*Only one one-week intensive, two-week intensive, or hybrid intensive portion may be taken during any one-week or two-week period.
