All Seminary Chapel-Ken Fong Preaching

  • About Ken Fong:
Ken’s paternal grandfather emigrated from Southern China when Abraham Lincoln was president. Because of this, three generations later, he has been given a head start in understanding what’s ahead for many other Asian Americans. He grew up in Sacramento, graduated with a Bachelor’s in biological science from U.C. Berkeley in 1976. He completed his M.Div. degree in 1981 at Fuller Seminary, the same year he was called as the associate pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church of Los Angeles. His Fuller Doctor of Ministry thesis Insights for Growing Asian American Ministries was one of the earliest books on the future of Asian American ministries. With some major revisions, this thesis become Pursuing the Pearl, still considered one of relevant books on Asian American ministries. He helped guide EBCLA to become the first English-only Japanese-/Chinese-/Taiwanese-American churches in North America. Since he was called to be senior pastor in 1996, he has led EvergreenLA to be one of the first multi-Asian, multi-ethnic congregations.

Ken has served on the boards of IWA, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, Westmont College, and the Asian American Drug Abuse Program. He is in demand as a conference speaker, having spoken at Moody Bible’s Founders’ Week, JEMS Mt. Hermon, and served as the main Bible expositor at the 2000 Urbana Student Missions Conference.
