Application Instructions

All applications must be received by Friday of the 8th week of the the quarter prior to the start of your internship/practicum. No late applications will be accepted.

MATM/MACL students, please note: your applications are due by the Friday of Week Six in the quarter before your practicum begins. See information below.

  1. Read the Internship Handbook and complete the Student Application.
  2. Supervisors read the Supervisor Handbook and the Supervisor Orientation Guidelines and complete the Supervisor Application.
  3. Email your student application to feapps@fuller.edu.
  4. Email the completed supervisor application to feapps@fuller.edu.
  5. Then FEMF will schedule an internship interview when both applications have been received.
  6. A Course Approval Notification will be emailed from the FEMF Office to the Advising Office (with a copy to you) if your internship is approved. In this same email, you will receive the necessary CRN to register via the Current Students Homepage by the deadline.

  1. Read the Internship Handbook and complete the Student Application.
  2. Supervisors read the Supervisor Handbook and the Supervisor Orientation Guidelines and complete the Supervisor Application.
  3. Email your student application to feapps@fuller.edu.
  4. Email the completed supervisor application to feapps@fuller.edu.
  5. Then FEMF will let you know if and when you have been approved in the following weeks after we have received both applications.
  6. A Course Approval Notification will be emailed from the FEMF Office to the Advising Office (with a copy to you) if your internship is approved. In this same email, you will receive the necessary CRN to register via the Current Students Homepage by the deadline.

Chaplaincy Internship

*If you are interested in a CPE internship please choose the CPE internship application process from the drop-down menu.

Before enrolling in any chaplaincy internship, you must have your internship approved by the site supervisor.

  1. Contact and submit an application to the chaplaincy site where you would like to serve. (Click here for a list of available sites in your area.)
  2. Interview with the site chaplain and receive initial approval for the internship.
  3. Submit a Student Application by email to feapps@fuller.edu.
  4. After your application is submitted, your Field Education Advisor will set up a meeting with you.
  5. Your Field Education Advisor will email a Course Approval Notification to the Advising Office (with a copy to you) upon the final approval of your internship.
  6. The Field Education and Ministry Formation Office will give you the necessary CRN to register via the Current Students Homepage.

*Allow 6-8 weeks for the application approval process of chaplaincy internships.

Note: Hospital, Hospice, and Senior Care chaplaincies require a tuberculosis (TB) test before you are allowed to start your internship. Check with your internship site for the timing and location of this test, and start the process early.

CPE Internship

CPE Internship

*If you are applying for a two-unit Chaplaincy Internship please choose the Chaplaincy Internship Application process from the drop-down menu.

  1. Attend or listen to the pre-CPE seminar entitled "Understanding Hospital Chaplaincy: How to Prepare for CPE," presented by Rev. Cheri Coleman.
  2. Complete and return the Pre-CPE Seminar Response.
  3. Apply to an accredited CPE site and enroll in an ACPE-accredited CPE program.*
  4. Pay tuition to the CPE site after you have been accepted. You will not have to pay tuition to Fuller.
  5. Submit an Advanced Standing Request and the Pre-CPE Seminar Response (see #2 above) to the Field Education and Ministry Formation office by the Friday of the eighth week of the quarter prior to the quarter you intend to participate in CPE.
  6. Once the documents above have been received and processed by our office, we will send a Course Approval Notification to the Advising Office and to you. In that same email, you will find the CRN to register via the Current Students Homepage.
  7. Register for 0 units for FE509 (ten to twelve weeks full-time), FE510 (twenty to twenty-four weeks half-time), or FE511 (more than 20 weeks part-time). No Fuller tuition will be charged.

You must register by the Friday of the first week of the quarter you are enrolled in CPE. The Registrar does not permit late registration.

*Important Note: The CPE site must be accredited by the ACPE (and no other CPE organizations). Due to competitive enrollment, it is strongly recommended that you apply nine months to a year prior to the expected month of enrollment. If you are on the ordination track for your denomination, you will need to verify that the site is approved by your denominational leadership or ordination committee.

MATM/MACL Practicum

MATM/MACL Practicum

Before enrolling in any MATM/MACL practicum you must have your practicum project approved. To do so:

  1. Begin planning your practicum 2 quarters before you hope to complete it.
  2. Download the Student Application and begin completing the project proposal (section VI). If you have questions about your project or need guidance in the planning process, please email us at fielded@fuller.edu.
  3. Familiarize yourself with the Internship Handbook and have your supervisor read the Supervisor Handbook.
  4. Finalize your Student Application and email it to feapps@fuller.edu by the Friday of Week Six before your practicum begins.
  5. Have your supervisor complete the Supervisor Application and email it to our office by Friday of Week Eight the quarter before your practicum begins.
  6. After both applications have been processed, your Field Education Advisor will set up a pre-practicum meeting with you.
  7. Once your practicum has been approved, the Field Education and Ministry Formation Department will give you the CRN so that you can register via the Current Students Homepage.
