Fuller is partnering with North Park Theological Seminary to launch a new doctor of ministry program in urban ministry. Fuller's Dr. Kurt Fredrickson approached North Park's Milton B. Engebretson Associate Professor of Church Growth and Evangelism Dr. Soong-Chan Rah about creating the joint program.
The three-year program combines online coursework with annual face-to-face intensives in Los Angeles, Chicago and Atlanta. Applications are now being accepted and the first cohort will begin in April 2014. After three years of learning in the cohort, students will begin two-to-three-year independent doctoral projects, allowing them to focus on individual ministry interests.
The program should be ideal for those actively involved in urban ministry. "This is for seasoned pastors," Rah said, "and folks willing to get a renewed sense of calling for ministry in an urban context. They may be saying, 'I want to go deeper into what I've already experienced, so that I can continue in ministry.'"
