Biographical Information:
Oscar
García-Johnson was appointed assistant professor of Systematic Theology in 2008
after teaching at Fuller for ten years as an adjunct professor.
García-Johnson’s
writings include ¡Jesús, hazme como tú! 40 Maneras de Imitar a Cristo
(Jesus, Make Me Like You! 40 Ways to Imitate Christ) (2010), The
Mestizo/a Community of the Spirit: A Latino/a Postmodern Ecclesiology (2008)
and chapters in Vivir y servir en el exilio: Lecturas teolólgicas de la experiencia
latina en los Estados Unidos (Living and Serving in Exile: Theological Lectures
of the Latin-American Experience in the United States) (2008), and Pasando la Antorcha
(Passing the Torch) (2005). Garcia-Johnson’s forthcoming book Agentes de Transformación: Vision, misión y modelos bíblicos (Agents of Transformation: Vision, Mission,
and Biblical Models)
is due for publication in the winter of 2012.
In addition to instructing courses at Fuller, Garcia-Johnson
is a professor of Doctrine and Spirituality at the Alberto Mottesi School of Evangelism, a respected Hispanic Bible
School based in Santa Ana CA that trains Latino/a leaders around the world. He
is an ordained minister with the American Baptist Churches, has planted four
churches, and served for eleven years as a Resource Regional Minister with the
American Baptist Churches of Los Angeles.
Garcia-Johnson is the co-founder of Omega Generation, a mentorship program targeting Latino/a young
adults labeled as generation “Ñ,” an alternative description to “Millennials”
in the Anglo-American context.
He is a
member of the Fraternidad Teológica Latinoamericana, The
American Academy of Religion, La Asociación para la Educación Teológica Hispana,
and the Evangelical Theological Society.
