Biographical Information:
Seong-Hyeon (Sung) Kim joined Fuller as assistant professor of psychology in 2009, bringing to the School of Psychology his passion for statistics, psychometrics, and Asian American psychology, as well as a background in counseling psychology. Dr. Kim has provided statistical consulting and data analysis services to several research projects, using his knowledge of advanced statistics to aid studies whose data proved incompatible with traditional methods.

He has taught courses in educational management and administration at Korea University of Technology and Education, and Asian American mental health at the University of Texas at Austin. Kim also has experience as a clinician at university counseling and mental health centers at Florida State University, Texas State University-San Marcos, University of Texas at Austin, and Seoul National University in Korea.

Kim has co-authored several articles in press, appearing in journals and publications such as Encyclopedia of Research Design, Journal of Psychology and Christianity, Counseling Psychology Quarterly, Journal of Clinical Psychology, Educational Measurement: Issues and Practice, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, Educational and Psychological Measurement, and Journal of Personality Assessment.

His current research includes studying the psycholgocial characteristics of North Korean refugees in South Korea and in May 2010 received a grant from the Emerging Research Fund for this study. Kim is also currently researching the personality characteristics and mental health needs of South Korean missionaries in overseas setting.
