 | Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr.
Huffman studied at Wheaton College, Princeton University, University of Tulsa,
and Harvard University. He has been in pastoral ministry since 1965, and was the
pastor of the 3100-member St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Newport Beach,
California from 1978 to 2009.
John has written nine books,
including The Family You Want and Forgive
Us Our Prayers. He also resources various television networks, newspapers
and magazines on contemporary matters of faith and life.
John has been the Presbyterian
preacher on “The Protestant Radio Hour”, served on the Board of Administration
of the National Association of Evangelicals, and the General Board of the
National |
board of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.
He also serves on the board of directors of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary
and is Chairman of the Christianity Today International board. He chaired the
board of World Vision U.S. and the Founders Chair on the World Vision
International Board. He has been involved in professional sports chaplaincies
in Miami and Pittsburgh was the backup chaplain, speaking several times each
year on the PGA Senior Golf Tour.John is married to Anne Ridgeway
Mortenson, a practicing psychoanalyst, and they have three children, one of
which is deceased.
Huffman has visited more than one
hundred foreign countries on six continents, and has recently been actively
involved in world/relief/justice efforts in Africa, Southeast Asia and the
Middle East.
