PR721: The Art of Preaching

Quick Overview:

In a world so radically altered by new technologies, the collision of cultures, and shortened attention spans, the 30-minute monologue may seem like a relic of another age. Preaching has never been more challenging than today.  Yet there is great potential in this ancient art form.  To unleash it requires that we become more deeply rooted people, with a firm grasp on cultural change, the power of language, and the fundamental human longing.

 Course Project:

All students will develop a project assessing themselves and their preaching context by integrating their understanding of biblical lenses, spiral dynamics, NLP, and spiritual practice.

Sample Readings From This Course May Include:

Brueggemann, Walter. The Collected Sermons of Walter Brueggemann. Westminster John Knox, 2011.
