The Mission of the Church in Asian Contexts with Dr. Scott Sunquist
This course begins with a historical survey of Christian mission in Asia, looking at the various Asian social and religious contexts, and then looks at the variety of responses to Christian mission. In the final section, 20th century social, political, and religious movements will be looked at in relation to the missionary outreach of both Western and Asian missionaries. Comparative studies will help to highlight the different approaches as well as the variety of responses to the Christian message.

Year Three

Ministry Leadership with Dr. John Ng and Dr. Peter Chao
This course is a primer in the integration of theology and leadership praxis within the context of church and organizational leadership. It is structured around 4 leadership foci encapsulated in the Leadership Imperatives:(a) Person: Focusing on the leader’s centeredness, calling, character, & competence; (b) Perspective: Developing a biblical framework out of which Christian leaders lead, (c) Performance: Sharpening competencies and leadership skills; and (d) Partnership: Fostering a culture of shared leadership.
*The same group of students will meet together over three years for
two-week intensive learning seminars
with a preset curriculum focused around ministry leadership in Asian
contexts. Students will also participate in an independent study based
on the Eagles Leadership Conference and complete a contextually-applied
doctoral ministry project.
