Certificate in Crosscultural Healthcare

The Certificate in
Crosscultural Healthcare is designed for healthcare practitioners and those
interested using healthcare for ministry in a crosscultural context.
The Certificate in Crosscultural Healthcare requires the successful completion of 24-quarter units
and an integrative essay. Since certificate courses may be applied to master's
level degree programs, students can utilize their time as certificate students
to explore the possibility of a School of Intercultural Studies master’s degree.
Curriculum
The Certificate in Crosscultural Healthcare requires the completion
of six master’s-level courses (24 units) and an integrative essay written at the conclusion
of the coursework. Of the 24 units, 16 must consist of the below Crosscultural Healthcare
focus courses:

Choose any 4 classes or equivalent of 12 units from the below (12 units):
- MB500 Culture and
Transformation (4 units)
- MD540 Gospel and
Holistic Ministry (4 units)
- MD546 Humanitarian Aid
(4 units)
- MM568 Self-Care in
Mission (4 units)
- MR520 Popular Religious
Beliefs and Practices: Views toward Healing (4 units)
- MI530 Healthcare Practicum (4-8 units)
- MD538 Medical Missions & Community Health Evangelism (4 units)
- Any School of
Intercultural Studies MD course
Electives (8 units)
The electives can consist of School of Intercultural Studies,
School of Theology, or School of Psychology courses.
Integrative Essay
The integrative essay consists of a one-paragraph summary for each
of the courses the student completed during the certificate program and a 1,500 word
essay reflecting on the program and its value/relevance to the student’s life and/or ministry.
Learning Outcomes
- Graduates will participate in the mission of God and the ministries of the global Church
from an evangelical missiological perspective.
- Graduates will demonstrate critical thinking and integration skills in order to foster
individual and social transformation.
- Graduates will demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity for building
relationships and for communicating the Gospel in context.
- Graduates will have skills and knowledge and networks of relationships to pursue vocations
that engage the mission of God globally.
- Graduates will value the importance of spiritual formation in both its personal and communal
dimensions.
Recipients of Fuller’s Certificate in Crosscultural Healthcare are equipped for enhanced ministries
as missionaries, church leaders, incarnational disciples in their communities and abroad, and
professionals in the marketplace. They are also well-prepared to support others in ministry, both
theologically and practically.

- Official transcript showing a bachelor's degree earned from an accredited
institution of higher learning, with a cumulative undergraduate grade point
average of 2.7 or above
- Evidence of personal maturity as communicated through a pastoral reference
and the applicant's religious autobiography
- Fuller's application form, with application fee attached
Note:
Applicants whose native language is not English or whose medium of instruction for all secondary
and post-secondary education is not English must either submit a test score of the
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) taken within the past two years or the
International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Academic Format, taken within the
