FULLER THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY’S PUBLICATION: TRAINING RESOURCES IN CHRISTIAN COUNSELING
For over fifty years, Fuller Theological Seminary has prepared leaders for the church world wide, and in particular, for the third world church. We thank God for the incredible growth of the church in these nations. However, we also recognize the continuing shortage of trained leaders to serve emerging congregations.
Our desire to equip Christian counselors for the church in Africa as well as requests for training materials has led Fuller Seminary’s Graduate School of Psychology to prepare resources for this purpose. The resources will be given free of charge to seminaries, bible schools, and Christian counseling agencies in Africa who will be able to utilize them in the training of counselors. The resources contain Christian Counselling: an African Indigenous Perspective, a book written by Fuller alum Dr. Gladys Mwiti and Fuller professor Dr. Al Dueck, as well as a package of Digital Video Disks (DVDs) covering each chapter of the book. The materials may be used to actively train pastors, counselors and/or trainers for the church in Africa. They may be made available to students through a library. The course consists of ten, one-hour chapters on a set of four DVDs, accompanied by a manual to guide the learning process. We encourage your seminary, bible school, or counseling agency to use these materials in your pastoral and Christian counseling training programs. Books that are requested will be soft-bound and mailed. However, you may download the entirety of the book in PDF format by clicking here. If you are interested in this course program and receiving this package of DVDs and manual, please write an official letter of request to Grant C. Millikan, Assistant Provost & Chief Information Officer, Fuller Theological Seminary, 135 N. Oakland Avenue, Pasadena, CA 91182, U.S.A. Should you request these course materials for your school, we will send you the materials directly. Please indicate the best address to use and the preferred shipping method to ensure you get the materials. These materials are not to be sold or copied in any way. Those who provide the training while using these materials may charge for the training. If the materials are used in a course for credit through your institution, tuition may be charged, but the DVDs and the course book are free. Students who complete the course and wish to receive their own free personal copy of the materials to use in the training of others may request that directly from Fuller Seminary through the project website listed below. They must, however, send a letter about their training along with 1) a copy of their evaluation (the evaluation form is available upon request) of how this course has enhanced their ministry, and 2) a brief plan of how he/she will use these materials to train others. If interested, your school can be certified to grant a joint Fuller Seminary/ (your school) certificate to your students if they 1) attend all training or class sessions; 2) read the manual; 3) and complete an evaluation form of how this course has enhanced their ministry. If you are interested in issuing a joint certificate, please contact Grant C. Millikan, Assistant Provost & Chief Information Officer. Please feel free to recommend the names of any other seminaries/Bible schools in your region/country. In such a recommendation, please include the school’s president, mailing address, telephone numbers, and email so that we can invite them to participate in this program as well. |
