We Are Hearing You
Kurt Fredrickson, Fuller DMin
November 2007

Every time you take a course, you fill out a course evaluation. Each DMin staff member reads these evaluations. We take these evaluations seriously. We use these evaluations to improve our courses and the program in general. We are hearing some recurring themes, and so we are in the process of developing some new courses. In the near future, you will be hearing about some new courses in the following areas:

  • Spiritual direction—exploring the giving and receiving of spiritual direction
  • Urban ministry—offering new courses on urban ministry, multi-ethnic congregations, and economic development
  • Ethics—offering courses that explore key ethical and justice issues of our day
  • Church planting and church development—expanding our offerings in this area, exploring new church planting movements
  • Worship and the arts-exploring worship, preaching, and media

We are constantly evaluating and re-inventing the Fuller DMin. Keep talking to us about needs in the church that our program should address. Send your suggestions to: kurtf@fuller.edu

The Fuller Doctor of Ministry Program - Serving the Church
Kurt Fredrickson, Fuller DMin
November 2007

We continue to strive to be the cutting edge DMin Program, serving the servants of the church. This is a program that is theologically rigorous, practically oriented, and has a heart for the world beating with a passion for Jesus.

Through this program our goal is to help you become, in greater ways, a reflective practitioner. Everything we do in the church is theological. Ray Anderson reminds us: whether we like it or not, whatever we do in the church speaks about God. So it is essential that we understand the theological girding of our ministry. Our ministry practices emerge out of theological convictions, filtered through and driven by our missiological understandings. Here is the way I diagram it:

I am beginning my fifth year as Director of this program. I pinch myself. I have the opportunity of working with an amazing cadre of students who engage in this study program in order to be the best ministers of the gospel. I am also surrounded by world-class professors and practitioners who understand and love the church, and by the DMin staff who work hard to care for you and make this program the best.

Thanks for being a part of this learning community. Please let us know how we can make this program better.
