MDiv Program
Working in ministry part-time as a teacher, missionary, mentor, and preacher, Sheridan Saltus encountered many seminary-trained ministers, most of whom were graduates of Fuller. With her continued involvement in ministry came the desire to gain a deeper understanding God's word.
Though Sheridan sensed a clear calling to pursue a theological education, there were many challenges that she has had to face along the way. “My first year at Fuller Theological Seminary was a difficult one, and probably the most challenging financial situation that I have ever experienced,” she says, “I struggled with the decision of whether or not I should leave my career [in modeling] behind in order to be a full time student. Upon making the decision, I had great peace. That peace lasted until the funds dried up.”
Despite the difficulties, Sheridan has experienced the faithfulness of God during her time at Fuller. “One day, during the summer of 2007, I opened my refrigerator and found no food. I did not have any money, and I was not sure how I was going to pay my rent for the month,” she shared, “During a class break that day, my professor approached me and said, ‘Ms. Saltus, God told me to give you all of the food in my refrigerator.’ I was shocked because I had not shared my hardship with anyone. In fact, I had done everything I could to avoid even the appearance of hardship. I cried on the way home because I had experienced God as a true provider.”
Shortly after accepting the professor’s gift, Sheridan was hired for a part-time job and became a scholarship recipient. “My experience at Fuller has been one of learning to understand God as my provider,” Sheridan says, “I just needed God to show up and confirm that I was doing exactly what he wants me to be doing.”
After completing her MDiv program, Sheridan plans to pursue a doctoral degree in homiletics, Christian ethics, or Christian education.
