“Ready, set, go!”
These are apt words as I get started as president of Fuller Seminary beginning July 1. I have been getting “ready” for decades: no doubt this position will call forth all the preparation that life, education, and ministry in previous years have provided me. Getting “set” has occurred through wonderful conversations with Dr. Mouw each week since March, through the great support of Cliff Penner as board chair, through the wisdom of Doug McConnell as provost, and through the marvelous prayers and encouragement of others too, including so many of you. Now it is time to “go.” I am humbled and thrilled by that privilege and opportunity.
My first hope is that we all will receive this new beginning as a call to prayer for all that lies before us. May God abundantly continue the best of Fuller's legacy and courageously guide us in what that “best” should look like in the days now here and in the years to come.
