Internet Resources for Study of Psychology

American Psychological Association  The site of the largest professional psychological association in existence.  Its broad focus incorporates both research and clinical aspects of psychology.

American Psychological Society.  The site of the Society is devoted more to pure psychological research.

British Psychological Society.  Another professional psychological association web site.

U.S. Psychology Ph.D. Programs  This page contains a comprehensive listing of 185 psychology Ph.D. programs across the United States. The schools are ranked in quality according to the results of a 1995 study conducted by the National Research Council (with "quality scores" taken from a summary of the NRC report published by the American Psychological Society Observer in January, 1996).

National Institute of Mental Health  The Institute is focused on research funding and grants for the area of psychology.

PsycINFO Through the A.P.A. This site provides the best database for searching for books and periodicals within the field of psychology.

Buros Institute of Mental Measurement  A site providing various psychological tests and measures.

AE Test Locator  The same as the Buros Institute, just a different format and approach.

Social Psychology Network  Social Psychology Network is the largest social psychology database on the Internet. On these pages, you'll find more than 5,000 links to psychology-related resources.

Encyclopedia of Psychology  This is not an encyclopedia so much as a virtual library in its field with over 1,000 links to the following areas: Career; People and History; Environment Behavior Relationships; Publications; Resources; Organizations; Underlying Reductionist Machinery; Paradigms and Theories.

Internet Mental Health  The goal of this site is to improve understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of mental illness throughout the world.

PsychCrawler  This is a product of the American Psychological Association created to provide quick access to quality content in the field of psychology. It is a limited area search engine that searches within the following sites: American Psychological Association, APA Public Information, National Institute of Mental Health [NIMH], The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMHSA], U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Center for Mental Health Services [CMHS].

Research Forum on Children, Families, and the New Federalism  The Research Forum on Children, Families and the New Federalism was created in January 1997 to facilitate the development of rigorous, policy relevant research about the effects of the new federalism on poor and vulnerable populations.  The Forum encourages research, collaboration, and exchange of information among key stakeholders, such as researchers, funders, policymakers, state and local administrators, and practitioners.
