Supervisor Main Page

Thank you for your interest in supervising our apprentices. We are grateful for your willingness to partner with us to give Fuller students an opportunity to not only become equipped in the skills of ministry, but also to receive spiritual, theological, and vocational formation during their apprenticeships. We look forward to working with you.

Please navigate through the menu below to find valuable information as you prepare to supervise your apprentice.

Supervisor Application

If you're ready to apply to be a Field Education supervisor, please download the application here. After filling out the application, please submit it electronically to feapps@fuller.edu.

Note: If you plan to supervise more than one student at the same time, please fill out the application completely one time. Then, you may partially fill out the application for all subsequent students by completing only the Student Information page and your own name.

  • Minimum of one year in current position
  • Formal theological training (i.e., Bible college or seminary level theological education)
  • Spend at least one hour per week, one on one with the apprentice in theological reflection, prayer, planning, and evaluation. • Provide a learning structure that is challenging, educational, and supportive.
  • Ensure the participation of the church or organization in the apprenticeship.
  • Complete the supervisor approval/certification process: submit a Supervisor Application, read and agree to the Supervisor Orientation Guidelines and the Supervisor Handbook. Email completed application to feapps@fuller.edu.
  • Supervisors may wish to become familiar with Field Education's Model for Theological Reflection in Field Education. Students are expected to apply this model during their apprenticeship and utilize it to theologically reflect with their supervisors.

Please note: Supervisors may not oversee the apprenticeship of an immediate family member.

Supervising an Apprentice

A key component of an apprenticeship is the relationship between the supervisor and the apprentice. The supervisor provides mentoring, modeling, and coaching for the apprentice in practical ministry, and spiritual and theological reflection. We invite you to partner with us in preparing future leaders for ministry and helping to discern their gifts and call.

All Field Education supervisors at Fuller must be approved by completing a Supervisor Application and reading the Supervisor Orientation Guidelines and the Supervisor Handbook.
