Chaplaincy Internships: Hospital, Hospice, Correctional Institution & Senior Care

Hospital, Hospice, Correctional Institution, & Senior Care Chaplaincy Internships

Fuller offers 10-week, part-time hospital, hospice, correctional institution and senior care chaplaincy internships for 2 units that fulfill the FE2 requirement for the MDiv. These internships are designed to provide an experience of pastoral care in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a certified chaplain.
Students may choose one of the facilities with which Fuller is already affiliated or students may find another facility and chaplain that is willing to offer an internship.

In the latter case, the chaplain will need to submit a supervisor application and be approved by the Field Education and Ministry Formation Office, and an affiliation agreement may need to be established between the facility and Fuller, which could take several months to arrange.  The Field Education and Ministry Formation Office currently has agreements with the following institutions.  These chaplaincy internships are listed by campus under each type of chaplaincy below.    For further information, contact the Field Education Internship Coordinator at fielded@fuller.edu.

Chaplaincy Internships may begin any quarter, though it is recommended that you complete approximately one third of your program prior to starting your first internship.  Special permission from the Director of Field Education is needed to begin an internship with less than 24 units completed.  Field Education strongly recommends students to apply to chaplaincy positions six (6) months in advance due to the competitive nature of the internships.  All chaplaincy programs, at the discretion of the respective institutions, may close their program at any time.

You can find the current list of the affiliated chaplaincies here.
