Master of Arts in Family Studies

The Master of Arts in Family Studies (MAFS) provides in-depth coursework for those who wish to develop the competence needed to work with couples, families, youths and children in non-clinical settings, both in and out of the local church context.  The degree program emphasizes knowledge and skills in family life education, including preventive work with couples and parents.

The MAFS requires the successful completion of 84 quarter units, and a typical class constitutes 4 units.  In addition to full-time and part-time study at the main campus in Pasadena, options are also available for taking theology/intercultural studies courses in a combination of online, individualized distance learning or extension campus module.

Fuller Theological Seminary is regionally accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) in the United States and Canada. In addition, the Department of Marriage and Family is recognized by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as meeting the standards and educational requirements for licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist in California.
