International Applicants Currently In the United States

Studying on a Work Visa

If you are currently in the US on a temporary work visa, you may be able to enroll in classes part time. Please check with the regulations about your visa. Many nonimmigrant work visas such as the H-1B and R-1 allow for part time study.

Changing Status to a Student Visa

If you are interested in changing status to an F-1 student visa, please apply to a program at Fuller and submit the I-20 Application along with supporting Declaration of Financial Support documents to the International Services Office. After you are accepted into an academic program and have received the I-20 Certificate of Eligibility, you will need to file form I-539 Application to Extend/Change Status. However, please be aware of the time frames and regulations involved in changing to a different status. F-1 visa holders are not allowed to work off campus. If your application to change status is approved while you are still actively employed you will need to stop working immediately. Visa holders cannot hold two visa statuses simultaneously.

Permanent Residents

Permanent residents function more or less the same as US citizens at Fuller. Please indicate on your application that you are a permanent resident and send a copy of your Permanent Resident card to the Admissions Office. There should be no other documentation required. If you are in the process of receiving your permanent residency, please contact the International Services Office to discuss your options for enrollment.
