Dear Alums,

The opportunity to work in an academic setting offers a number of blessings--including the natural ebb and flow of the school year, complete with a beginning and an ending. We are at the beginning of a new year at Fuller, and it is a wonderful privilege to be here as I begin my time as associate vice president for alumni/ae and church relations. Of course, it is not a true beginning for me, as I have a lifelong relationship with Fuller, but it is certainly the beginning of a new stage of that relationship. The days are filled with wonderful conversations, some of which are the beginnings of new friendships and some of which are continuations of many years of connection.

It is a gift to be part of the Fuller team and to benefit from Dr. Mouw's leadership in a more personal way. I appreciate and share his love of hymns. When I was a child my family traveled the country for eight weeks, and we sang our way through an InterVarsity hymnbook--every hymn and every verse. One of our family favorites is "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," which comes from Lamentations 3:22-23: "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."

May we all be reminded daily of his great faithfulness, and may we be encouraged by the blessing of seeing his mercies morning by morning. We are grateful for his provision of all that we need at the beginning of this new academic year.

Conversations on Culture

Theology Reading Group
The fourth meeting of the Theology Reading Group will be held Wednesday, October 22, with discussion of and reflection on portions of Robert Jenson's Systematic Theology, vol. 1: The Triune God, Chapters 12 and 14.

Sacred Space
