For Kit Ripley, the idea that people can find new life in Christ is anything but an abstraction. Ripley ministers at the New Life Center in Chiang Mai, Thailand, which is a home for ethnic minority women and girls who are at risk for, or are victims of, labor exploitation and sexual abuse. "There are always surprises in Thailand," she says, "but I think the greatest surprises for me happen when I see residents' lives radically changed." read more

I was in Guatemala for the summer, living in a tin-roofed orphanage with 12 teammates and 100 children, hidden in the mountains on the road to El Salvador. I was experiencing my first mission trip, pushing past fears of dying at the hands of guerillas or contracting a deadly disease, and trusting that God was sending me overseas to bless, serve, and save children.
