STUDENT GOVERNMENT

All Seminary Council

The multifaceted academic programs at Fuller encompass the Schools of Psychology, Theology, and Intercultural Studies. Each student body represents diverse backgrounds, goals, and interests. The All Seminary Council (ASC) of Fuller Seminary is constitutionally organized, and reflects the structure and diversity of Fuller. While Graduate Unions represent the academic, professional, and social needs you may have within respective schools, the ASC responds particularly to issues and needs that concern the student community as a whole. The ASC (a) coordinates intramural sports, student events, the vending machines, and the use of the Catalyst; (b) represents the student body to Fuller faculty, administration, and the Board of Trustees; and (c) facilitates student involvement in seminary-related organizations and interest groups.

Copies of the ASC Constitution and Bylaws, the GU and Concerns Committee Bylaws, job descriptions, and budget reports are available in the ASC Office on the first floor of the Catalyst. The ASC encourages students to offer feedback and input on the seminary programs it sponsors and oversees. ASC council meetings, held two times per month, are open to all students.

General questions should be directed to the Administrator at 626-584-5452, or via email at asc-admin@dept.fuller.edu. For questions regarding any of the Graduate Unions or Concerns Committees, please contact the appropriate person listed below.

Graduate Unions and Concerns Committees

Graduate Unions. Students from the Schools of Psychology, Theology, and Intercultural Studies elect representatives to their particular Graduate Unions (GUs). Each GU represents the needs, interests, and opinions which are of concern to its respective school. Graduate Unions have their own bylaws and elect representatives annually.

Arts Concerns Committee. The Arts Concerns Committee is dedicated to facilitating an environment, through all forms of art and culturally diverse expression, which encourages the Fuller community to create and experience art and to dialogue about and reflect upon the theological, social, and cultural implications of art in our world. The committee wants to create venues for artists and to provide role models and art education for those who are just beginning to explore their creative capacities. Email artspaceFTS@fuller.edu or visit www.artspacefts.com for more information.

International Students Concerns Committee. The International Students Concerns Committee (ISCC) is a special-interest group sponsored by the All Seminary Council (ASC). The ISCC seeks to include in its membership representatives from all identified international student groups at Fuller. The ISCC serves as a facilitator of fellowship among international students and a bridge with national students to build a supportive community together. The chair of the ISCC serves on the ASC and provides advocacy for the needs and interests of international students at council meetings and to school administrators. If you would like to become involved in this year's ISCC, email iscc@fuller.edu.

Mission Concerns Committee. The Mission Concerns Committee aims to leverage the missiological, theological, and psychological expertise on the Fuller campus to widen and deepen our perspectives of "contemporary mission." It is also the vision of the committee to encourage the Fuller Community to experience how the Holy Spirit is moving in the world, and to better understand believing and unbelieving neighbors. The committee organizes conferences, prayer meetings, and a wide array of creative events to promote the cause of God's mission among students.

Multicultural Concerns Committee. The Multicultural Concerns Committee is composed of students from the Schools of Theology, Psychology, and Intercultural Studies. The purpose of the committee is to support people groups who are attempting to integrate their cultural distinctives with their education at Fuller and to foster sensitivity to cultural differences among members of Fuller's community. The committee seeks to represent the broad range of ethnic and cultural identities represented on campus and in the community.

Peace and Justice Concerns Committee. The Peace and Justice Concerns Committee (PJCC) was envisioned and initiated by students concerned about a gospel perspective on issues of ethical and social importance. The committee encourages the Fuller community to become more active in facing problems in contemporary society. The PJCC acts as a resource whereby you may become better informed and more involved in areas of acute human need and be assisted in working through the implications of the gospel and meeting human needs.

The Peace and Justice Concerns Committee office is located above the Catalyst in Kreyssler Hall. For more information, call 626-304-3756 or email us at asc-pjcc@dept.fuller.edu. Announcements are also posted on the Peace and Justice bulletin board located next to Payton Hall 101.

Women's Concerns Committee. Fuller Seminary is committed to providing women students an affirmative setting for professional growth and training toward all areas of Christian ministry and leadership. A committee of women from all three schools meets to represent women in process at Fuller Seminary. The committee provides a place to network resources for women's needs. Refer to announcements posted on the Women's Concerns bulletin board near the Mail Center or call 626-304-3757 for more information.

Forming a Student Group. Interested in forming a student group? Some groups that are or have been part of Fuller campus life include clubs of various kinds, associations of students with a particular shared identity or interest, musical groups, and many more. Some groups are very informal and have no official standing with the seminary. Others desire to use seminary facilities, enjoy seminary privileges, and/or use the Fuller name. If you are interested in starting a new group at Fuller, and you want your group to be authorized by the seminary, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students. The staff of the Office of the Dean of Students can give you information about the options available to your group for recognition by the seminary. These include becoming part of the All Seminary Council (student government), becoming an Affiliated Student Group, or being recognized as a Registered Student Group. The Office of the Dean of Students can assist you with information to help you select the option most suitable for your particular group's size and purpose.
