Welcome to Fuller! We are delighted by your interest
in our Graduate School of Psychology. We believe it is one of the finest in the
country, and we hope you will find here the training you need to equip you for
the career you have chosen and the ministry to which you are called.
Established in 1965, Fuller’s Graduate School of
Psychology has a proud history of more than forty years of research, teaching,
and service in clinical psychology and marriage and family therapy built upon a
foundation of sound theological scholarship. As the oldest and largest program
of our kind, we continue to provide leadership to the Christian psychology
movement as it addresses the emerging mental health needs of the church and
worldwide Christian community. It is our goal to equip Christian leaders with
the skills necessary to bring thorough research, teaching and clinical practice,
the Gospel message of restoration, reconciliation, and redemption to
individuals, couples, families, groups and communities. We are also committed to
maintaining a learning environment conducive to spiritual transformation and
meaningful personal growth. Fuller is an exciting place, and we are eager to
share this experience with you.
As you survey the array of programs that we offer,
you will note that they include the Certificate in Marriage and Family
Enrichment, the M.A. in Family Studies (General, Pre-doctoral and CFLE tracks), the M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy
(accredited by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences),
and Psy.D. (Individual, Family and Leadership tracks) and Ph.D. (Individual and
Family tracks) programs in
Clinical Psychology, both of which are approved (professionally accredited) by APA. All degree programs include theology classes, and doctoral students also
earn an M.A. in Theology or Christian Leadership. I know of no other place in
the world where you can receive an education of this type, learning with and
from students from over 60 countries, representing more than 100 Christian
denominations. Fuller places itself directly at the crossroads of the Christian
church, and many of the issues addressed on campus represent the emerging trends
that will define the Christian movement in years ahead. Perhaps equally
important is the quality of people who are drawn here. Some of the finest
individuals preparing for careers in the mental health field come here to study.
I am impressed each year by the quality and commitment of students in our
programs.
