MB506 Developing Leaders for Cross-Cultural Ministries (4 units)
Timothy K. Park, Director of Korean Studies Program and Associate Professor of Asian Mission
Spring 2003 Pasadema
DESCRIPTION:
Cross-cultural missionary work has been carried on mainly by people who were spirit-filled and capable to communicate in the native language of the people they served and in culturally acceptable ways. Leaders who are concerned with the effective communication of the gospel of the kingdom should be able to learn the native language and culture of the people they will serve. This course is designed to help develop Korean leaders for cross-cultural ministries. It will address the issues of Korean leadership development for cross-cultural ministries.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Develop an awareness of linguistic and cultural obstacles that impede the effectiveness of Korean missionary efforts.
Develop cultural awareness and sensitivity in an effort to more effectively communicate the Gospel.
Learn how to be more effective in cross-cultural ministries
COURSE FORMAT:
The class is a one-week intensive course. Based on case studies of some key Korean leaders in mission fields, the professor and students will derive the principles and practice of Korean leadership development for effective cross-cultural ministries.
