THIS COURSE IS CANCELLED FOR SUMMER 2006
MO511/611: From Renewal to Revival (4 units)
Pablo A. Deiros, Professor of History of Mission
Summer 2006 Pasadena
DESCRIPTION:
A process of spiritual renewal is
discernible in many parts of the Christian world these days. However, spiritual
renewal is not an end in itself. It should continue into a deep movement of
revival, in which the Gospel is proclaimed to every creature. How to move from
renewal to revival? Which are the steps to guide a renewed church to become a
church aflame in revival? These are some of the questions that this course
attempts to answer.
LEARNING OUTCOMES: The student will be encouraged to
• develop
a clear understanding of the concepts and experiences of spiritual renewal and
revival,
• develop
an interpretation of present-day experiences of renewal and revival,
• develop
the capacity of being involved in a hands-on experience of revival.
COURSE FORMAT: The course is a two-week
intensive and will be developed through lectures, basic research projects,
extensive readings, and class discussions.
