Alison Wong is an assistant professor of marriage and family therapy. Her background and training are in Medical Family Therapy (MedFT), educating physicians and providing therapy for patients and their families in primary care. Prior to joining the Fuller faculty, Dr. Wong’s clinical and research focused on families coping with cancer from diagnosis to survivorship, as well as families coping with end of life issues and bereavement. Her current research explores the couple and family’s lived experience of illness.

In addition to her faculty role, Wong is also the director of research at Fuller Psychological and Family Services. Her work aims to provide a better understanding of therapy processes and outcomes to empower clients, improve treatment, and enhance training.

Wong’s teaching includes medical family therapy, narrative therapy, group therapy, research methods, and legal and ethical courses. She is passionate about developing students into skilled therapists who provide evidence-based, ethical treatment from a biopsychosocial-spiritual approach.

Wong is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in California and maintains a small private practice. She is a member of the Collaborative Family Healthcare Association (CFHA), the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
