What are the requirements to be a candidate for admission to Fuller Theological Seminary's Master of Arts in Global Missional Leadership program?

  • Reference Forms
    Within the Application for Admission, you will be prompted to list three references:

    • You must provide one (1) reference from a pastor or denominational leader AND two (2) references that are either academic or professional.
    • Experienced Leaders Cohort only: To apply for the Experienced Leaders Cohort in the MAGML program, you must provide one (1) reference from a pastor or denominational leader AND one (1) one reference from someone in your ministry context AND one (1) additional reference that is either academic or professional.
  • Essay Responses
    Once you have completed the Application for Admission, you will be prompted to upload and submit your essay responses to the following questions into the application portal.

    • Religious Autobiography
      Reflect on your past Christian experience, including the most significant spiritual event/influence in your life, the role of Christ in your religious experience, your involvement in Christian service, and your reason(s) for attending your church. (minimum 250 words; maximum 500 words)
    • Statement of Purpose
      Why are you interested in Fuller Theological Seminary and this particular degree program? (minimum 250 words; maximum 500 words). Experienced Leaders Cohort applicants answer this prompt instead: Briefly evaluate your personal ministry, and identify perceived strengths and areas needing improvement. Please indicate what has prompted your interest in the Experienced Leaders Cohort and how you hope the experience will address this need. (Approximately 250 words in length).
    • Statement of Calling
      At this point in your Christian journey, how do you envision your calling to God's mission in the world? (minimum 250 words; maximum 500 words)
    • Experienced Leaders Cohort Only: Applicants to the Experienced Leaders Cohort must have at least 4 years of mission/ministry leadership experience and supply a Statement of Ministry Experience: Please provide a comprehensive ministry history, demonstrating at least four years of significant ministry experience (10 hours per week or more) and that you are actively engaged in a leadership role. Ministry is defined as church or parachurch involvement. Include beginning and ending dates, organization, location, position/role, and brief description of ministry (including nature of position held, responsibilities, and level of involvement).

If you are bilingual in English and Spanish and wish to take coursework in both languages, you will be required to submit some of the required essays in Spanish as well as English.

  • Official Transcripts
    • Submit official transcripts from ALL post-secondary schools attended, including a transcript showing a bachelor's degree earned from an accredited institution, with a cumulative undergraduate grade point average of 2.7 or above.
      • All transcripts are evaluated in determining admission to Fuller master's degree programs.
      • If you do not currently hold an accredited bachelor's or master's degree or will not receive an accredited bachelor's or master's degree before the desired term of entry, you may be eligible to apply to the MAGML as a Special Student. Click here for more information.
  • Application Fee
    • A $75 non-refundable application fee is required for applicants applying online.  You may pay your application fee online with a U.S. credit card, PayPal, check, money order, or international bank transfer.
  • English Language Requirements
