Fuller Theological Seminary proudly represented its global commitment to missional engagement during the 4th Lausanne Congress in Seoul-Incheon, South Korea, held from September 22-28, 2024. The gathering was a powerful demonstration of Fuller’s contributions to world mission, with over 100 alumni, President Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley, five faculty members, 15 PhD students, and two trustees in attendance.
The Fuller delegation played a key role in discussions that aligned with the Congress’ overarching theme of accelerating global mission. Fuller’s alumni, faculty, and students gathered to share updates, reflect on their collective missional efforts, and strengthen ties within the Fullerverse. This event marked yet another milestone in Fuller’s enduring partnership with the Lausanne Movement, a partnership grounded in shared goals of missional leadership, theological education, and global impact.
Dr. David Emmanuel Goatley, President of Fuller Theological Seminary, spoke during the gathering, sharing his vision for Fuller’s continued engagement in world missions: “Fuller’s mission has always been to equip and send servant leaders into the world to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ in transformative ways. Our presence at the Lausanne Congress underscores our unwavering commitment to empowering future generations to serve in the ever-evolving landscape of global mission.”
The gathering at the Lausanne Congress provided a unique opportunity for the Fuller community to reconnect and renew their shared commitment to global theological education and missional service. Faculty and students presented updates on research and mission projects, emphasizing Fuller’s leadership in addressing pressing global challenges through innovative theological and practical approaches. The event was organized by Jihyung Lee and supported by the Fuller Korean PhD student community, further reflecting Fuller’s deep ties to Korea and the broader global Christian community.
Fuller’s global missional engagement has been underscored through strategic partnerships such as its MOU with Juan International University, and active participation in ongoing conversations about mission, theology, and public life. These collaborations demonstrate Fuller’s deep investment in nurturing theological leadership in diverse cultural contexts and its commitment to the worldwide church.
The Congress culminated in a powerful affirmation of the Great Commission, as thousands of attendees signed the Collaborative Action Commitment, further propelling the global church into a new season of intergenerational and intercultural missional collaboration.
