Certificate of Christian Studies
The Certificate of Christian Studies offers students an opportunity to complete a personalized, short-term non-degree program to meet a wide range of goals, from training for a specific church or para-church ministry to personal and spiritual enrichment.
Additionally, any new student who starts in 2018 will be offered the Grace Fuller Scholarship.
CURRICULUM (24 UNITS, 6 COURSES)
Only 6 courses are required to complete the certificate.
The Certificate of Christian Studies offers students the flexibility to build their own pathway of study. Choose a combination of 6 courses from the School of Theology, School of Intercultural Studies, or School of Psychology that support your ministry or vocational goals. At least 3 courses must be from either the School of Theology or the School of Intercultural Studies.
OR FOCUS YOUR STUDIES WITH SUGGESTED TOPICS LIKE
Choose any 6 courses relating to Peace and Justice. Possible course topics, subject to availability, include: Peacemaking, Christian Ethics, Race and Ethnicity, Creation Care, Children at Risk, Women’s Studies, Urban Studies, and Poverty, Globalization, and Development.
Choose 6 courses relating to Pastoral Care. Possible course topics, subject to availability, include: Family Systems Dynamics, Recovery Ministry, Pastoral Care and Abuse, Pastoral Care and Addictions, Pastoral Care and Sexuality, Spiritual Formation, Family Therapy, and Pastoral Counseling
Students can take classes in Pasadena, Houston, 100% online, or any combination that they choose. A list of upcoming courses can be found here.
Classes taken for this certificate can be used toward a master's degree.
GRACE FULLER SCHOLARSHIP
Every new student who begins Fuller’s Certificate of Christian Studies program in 2018 will automatically be offered the Grace Fuller Scholarship, reducing the cost of the program by one-third, by providing the fifth and sixth courses for free.
The Grace Fuller Scholarship can enable you to remain in your own community as you strengthen your leadership with a Certificate of Christian Studies. For those who have been sensing God’s call to theological studies but not necessarily to an entire graduate degree, this is a wonderful place and time to start.
