NEUROPSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT
Fuller Psychological and Family Services (FPFS) specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological outpatient evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults. If you or someone you know is struggling with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, intellectual disability disorder, communication disorder, autism spectrum disorder, or a specific learning disorder, a neuropsychological assessment is the first step to diagnosis and treatment. Evaluations can also diagnose bipolar disorders, depressive disorders, and anxiety disorders.
A typical evaluation includes assessment of these functions:
- General intellectual functioning
- Academic skills (reading, writing, math)
- Attention/concentration
- Learning and memory
- Language skills
- Visuoperception and visuospatial skills
- Motor skills
- Behavioral and emotional functioning
- Social functioning
An initial interview is done to obtain a detailed developmental history and to clarify concerns and identify goals for the assessment. Depending on the individual’s needs, some areas may be evaluated in more depth than others. The initial interview is followed by 12 hours of testing, usually done over 2 days on a Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm with a lunch break.
Results of an assessment will assist in the following areas:
- Understanding developmental, neurological, and medical issues
- Identifying an individual’s strengths and weaknesses
- Addressing academic, social, and emotional issues
- Providing a better understanding of the individual’s behaviors and learning styles, which will help teachers, therapists, and physicians provide appropriate treatments, interventions, and accommodation
Our licensed assessment supervisors utilize trained assessment clerks (students who have their master’s degree in clinical psychology and are working on their doctorate) to do most of the testing. They closely supervise these students and are very involved throughout the process.

PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT
Personality assessment can help you understand why you think, feel, and act as you do. Personality assessments results can be used to help you improve your relationships, understand your strengths, and help you identify opportunities for improvement.
YOU MIGHT BENEFIT FROM A PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO:
- Better understand why you think, feel, and behave as you do
- Gain insights into careers/vocations that best fit you
- Improve the quality of your professional and personal relationships
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT?
- Your assessor will interview you for about 90 minutes to better understand your psychological, social, and relational history.
- You will then be given one or more assessment tests. These are usually administered by having you respond to assessment questions via a computer. This typically takes 60-90 minutes.
- You will be invited back a few weeks later for a one-hour consultation, during which your assessment results will be shared with you and you will be given a confidential, written report to take with you.
