Bio

Athena E. Gorospe is professor and chair of biblical studies and director of the PhD in Contextual Theology program at Asian Theological Seminary in Manila, Philippines. As an Asian scholar, her research interests lie in Scripture’s interface with philosophy, culture, and social context. She is the author of “Judges” in the Asia Bible Commentary and Narrative and Identity: An Ethical Reading of Exodus 4. She is author and editor of works that show an interface between Scripture and current sociopolitical realities, including How Long, O Lord? The Challenge and Promise of Reconciliation and Peace. She has a PhD in Theology (Old Testament) from Fuller Theological Seminary.

Publications

Dr. Gorospe has recently published “God’s Story of Life: Themes for an Asian Creation Care Ethics,” in Asian Christian Ethics: Evangelical Perspectives (2022). She has also published essays in the areas of narrative ethics, contextualization, environment, and other social issues.
