Bio

Dr. Marcel Oswaldo Pontón is an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He provides specialty neuropsychology assessment services at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center for bilingual patients. Prior to that, he served for 25 years at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center providing neuropsychological services to the indigent, and the severely mentally ill. In the past 25 years, he has trained dozens of clinicians who are now leaders in the field. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Wheaton College. Later, he graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with a Master’s in Theology and a PhD in Clinical Psychology. He completed his research and clinical fellowships at the Neuropsychiatric Institute at UCLA (now the Semel Institute), and joined the faculty upon completion of his post-doctoral work.

Over the past 25 years he has specialized in the assessment and treatment of head injury patients. He is the Clinical Director of Persona Neurobehavior Group, a multicultural private practice group in Pasadena, California. He has been in the Faculty at Fuller since 1999. Dr. Pontón has authored multiple articles dealing with the assessment and treatment of Spanish-speaking populations, and has co-authored two books: *Neuropsychology and the Hispanic Patient* (2001) and *Handbook of Cross-cultural Neuropsychology* (2005). His most recent book is *Dinámicas Familiares a través de la Familia de José: La Túnica del Padre* (2016).
