Bio

Chloe Sun joined the Fuller faculty in July 2023. She grew up in an atheistic context and became a Christian as a college student in the United States. After graduation, she answered a call to ministry and began her journey of theological education by enrolling in seminary. Dr. Sun holds a B.S from California State University, San Bernardino in Business Administration, an MDiv from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (now Gateway Seminary), an STM from Dallas Theological Seminary, and a PhD from Fuller Theological Seminary major in Old Testament and minor in Ancient Near Eastern Studies.

Prior to joining Fuller, Dr. Sun served as a faculty member at Logos Evangelical Seminary in southern California for over eighteen years where she also served as the academic dean and also in the role of program director. She has published more than ten books in both English and Chinese. Her first book Genesis: Beginning with God (in Chinese) is in the seventh printing and her latest Conspicuous in His Absence: Studies in the Song of Songs and Esther (in English) was a finalist for the Biblical Foundation’s Award. Currently, she is working on two commentaries on the book of Exodus and another commentary on Lamentations and Song of Songs.

Dr. Sun also speaks regularly at churches, both locally and internationally and is passionate about teaching Scripture creatively and insightfully so that lives will be transformed. As a person raised in and exposed to different cultures, Dr. Sun is interested in issues about diversity, diaspora, migration, spiritual formation, and their intersections with the Old Testament.
